“We are willing to spend five years in university learning for a career, so why do we think we don’t need to learn when it comes to raising children — the most important 18-year project of our lives?”

– Mr. Long, a parent from FV88 It Com Tay Ho Tay, shared a reflection that deeply resonated with all parents attending the “Positive Parenting” course.

The “Positive Parenting” course has just reached its 8th session — a milestone where parents faced one of the most difficult challenges in parenting: managing anger.

cha-me-tich-cuc-02

Mr. Le Van Hao explained an important truth: when anger takes over, our brains switch into a primitive “fight or flight” mode. Out of love and intense concern, parents’ minds can sometimes function like a “radar,” exaggerating risks and catastrophizing every mistake their children make.

In those moments, even with good intentions, losing control can turn us into the people who hurt our children the most. Children are left confused by a painful contradiction: if this is love, why does it hurt so much? Only when we remain calm can we think wisely enough to find non-violent solutions that help children feel safe rather than fearful.

To manage anger effectively, the “Time-out” toolkit for parents was introduced as a practical strategy:

  • Step away from the “hot zone”: temporarily remove yourself from the tense situation by getting a glass of water or moving to another space.
  • Regulate your body: count from 1 to 10 or focus on deep breathing to regain emotional balance.
  • Communicate honestly: calmly tell your child, “Mom/Dad is feeling very upset right now. I need a few minutes to calm down, then we can continue talking.”

cha-me-tich-cuc-03

When parents choose to “slow down for a moment,” connection is preserved. And only through connection can the true influence of education begin.

The 8-session journey at FV88 It Com has been shaped by many heartfelt real-life experiences shared by parents. One example is Ms. Nga from The Dewey Ocean Park, who lives as far as Thanh Tri Bridge yet consistently traveled the long distance every week for the past eight weeks.

“I learned how to regulate my emotions in ways that suit my child. Only when I change positively can I guide my child toward good values without placing pressure on their emotional well-being.”

cha-me-tich-cuc-04

Mr. Long’s story from FV88 It Com Tay Ho Tay brought another deeply emotional reflection. He shared how one evening he became irritated because his child kept delaying homework. But when he noticed the frustration and sadness on his child’s face, he suddenly realized that his child had also gone through a long and exhausting day at school. Instead of continuing to assert his authority as a father, he chose to apologize. The moment his child burst into tears after finally feeling understood became the clearest proof: when parents can control their anger, love finally has a safe place to stay.

Becoming a positive parent does not mean becoming perfect. It means continuously striving to understand your child with a calm and compassionate heart. Your calmness today may become the most valuable gift for your child’s mental well-being tomorrow.

Competing against nearly 600 students from across Northern provinces at the Hanoi Round 2026, teams from FV88 It Com delivered outstanding performances across key events, including Team Debate, the Scholar’s Challenge, Collaborative Writing, and the Scholar’s Bowl.

In total, they brought home 12 Champion Trophies, 85 Gold Medals, and 62 Silver Medals an impressive achievement that reflects both depth and consistency across disciplines.

WSC-01

Their journey at the World Scholar’s Cup stands as a testament to the perseverance, critical thinking, and teamwork of Dewey’s global learners.

A standout highlight came from Đức Duy and Anh Minh (7 Ghent), who rose above more than 250 contestants to secure second place in the Junior Division. Đức Duy earned 3 Champion Trophies and 10 Gold Medals, while Anh Minh achieved 2 Champion Trophies, 7 Gold Medals, and 3 Silver Medals. Their success not only marks a personal milestone but also inspires the wider Dewey community to continue striving for excellence.

WSC-03

Behind every medal lies dedication and discipline. From hours of research across diverse subjects – from Science and History to Art and Music – to moments of clarity on the debate stage, and the strong sense of trust within each team, this achievement reflects a meaningful learning journey.

It is also the result of a powerful partnership between students, teachers, and families. At The Dewey Schools, we are proud to provide an environment where students can explore their potential, grow in confidence, and develop the mindset needed to create a positive impact.

Congratulations to all our scholars! With direct qualification to the Global Round, we look forward to seeing you continue to grow, excel, and represent the Dewey community on the international stage.

On the occasion of International Workers’ Day (May 1), FV88 It Com Parent Association (DPA) hosted an appreciation gathering to honor the operations staff—the “silent backbone” supporting every Dewey student’s journey of growth.

Though they are not in the classroom, Dewey’s operations team serves as the steady force behind the entire school system. From security, information technology, and facilities to event management and school nutrition, each department plays a distinct role while sharing a common mission: to create a safe, nurturing, and inspiring learning environment for students. These behind-the-scenes tasks, often perceived as routine, form the solid foundation that makes each school day a joyful experience for every child.

At the event, Mr. Đặng Minh Quang, representing the Parent Association, expressed his appreciation: “Thank you to our dedicated and meticulous operations team working behind the scenes, ensuring that every student event is seamlessly organized and thoughtfully delivered. From caring for students’ meals and well-being to maintaining a safe and enriching learning environment, your efforts help our children feel secure, supported, and happy at school.”

This also reflects the consistent direction that FV88 It Com steadfastly pursues: a holistic approach to student well-being, encompassing both physical and emotional health. Beyond providing optimal learning conditions, the school prioritizes nurturing positive emotions, fostering a psychologically safe environment, and maintaining strong connections with parents. This close partnership between school and family becomes a vital link, ensuring that each student is heard, understood, and able to grow at their own pace.

doi-ngu-van-hanh-03

Representing the school, Ms. Vũ Thị Lệ Hằng, Head of School Safety & Quality Assurance, also acknowledged the Parent Association’s support throughout the academic year: “The trust and partnership from parents are a powerful source of motivation for our teachers and staff to continue striving every day. We hope this relationship will keep growing stronger, becoming a sustainable bridge in nurturing our students’ development.”

More than a gesture of appreciation, the event also carries educational significance and is envisioned by the Dewey Parent Association as an annual tradition. Through this initiative, the school and families together promote the values of empathy, gratitude, and respect for the often-unseen contributions that make a meaningful difference in students’ lives.

More than half a century has passed, yet the glorious milestone of April 30, 1975 remains deeply meaningful in the hearts of every Vietnamese person. Joining the proud atmosphere of the 51st anniversary of national reunification, Dewey students have personally designed vibrant propaganda posters to express their patriotism. Amid the red-and-yellow colors filling the classrooms, each artwork reflects a unique perspective—a creative expression of love for the homeland—contributing to a sacred symphony of national unity.

On the occasion of the 51st anniversary of reunification, FV88 It Com would like to express our deepest gratitude to previous generations who sacrificed their blood and lives for the country’s unity. This appreciation also extends to today’s soldiers, who continue the proud tradition, safeguarding the peaceful skies of our homeland.

Each poster is a commitment from the young Dewey generation to cultivate knowledge and strengthen their character to build the nation. They choose to show their patriotism through learning, sharing, and bringing stories of peace and Vietnamese identity to the world. In the heartbeat of youth, the affirmation “With red blood and yellow skin, I am Vietnamese” remains their guiding principle as they proudly write new, brilliant chapters for the nation.

The greatest challenge students face in conquering the SAT does not stem from a lack of practice tests, but rather from an incorrect approach from the very beginning. This was one of many practical and insightful takeaways shared with parents at the seminar “SAT 1500+: Early Planning, Elevating Applications to Top Universities” hosted by Dewey Tây Hồ Tây last weekend.

At the event, Dr. Hồ Hồng Hải from VinUni’s College of Business and Management, alongside Ms. Nguyễn Thị Thu Hà, a university admissions expert, provided a comprehensive overview of modern admissions trends. They emphasized that the SAT is increasingly becoming a key criterion in evaluating student capability at international universities as well as leading public institutions in Vietnam.

giai-ma-sat-02

According to Ms. Ngô Ánh Tuyết, Head of Career and University Counseling at FV88 It Com’ Academic and Pedagogical Council, many students only begin intensive SAT preparation in Grades 11–12, which often leads to overload and a lack of foundational skills. In contrast, the SAT requires a long-term accumulation of knowledge and competencies starting from lower secondary school, built strategically through the core academic curriculum.

She further noted that common issues such as running out of time, struggling with data analysis questions, or misapplying formulas are merely surface-level symptoms. The root causes lie in limited academic vocabulary, insufficient understanding of textual reasoning, and a mechanical approach to mathematics that lacks analytical depth. These are precisely the competencies the SAT assesses—yet they cannot be developed effectively in a short period without early and consistent training.

giai-ma-sat-03

Therefore, the speakers highlighted the importance of building a strong cognitive foundation from the middle school level. Through Dewey’s American-standard curriculum, students are nurtured in critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and argumentation skills. Notably, the Common Core–aligned program closely matches the SAT structure, enabling students to develop essential skills such as evidence-based reading, contextual language analysis, algebraic thinking, and real-world problem solving.

The seminar also featured real stories from Dewey students who achieved SAT scores of 1500+. Their journeys to reaching the top 2% demonstrate that success does not come from studying more, but from studying effectively—through proactive inquiry, hands-on experiences, and participation in real-world projects.

giai-ma-sat-04

By the end of the seminar, many parents had reshaped their perspectives on their children’s long-term learning journeys. Mr. Doãn Hải Sơn, a parent attendee, shared that he now has a clearer understanding of modern admissions trends and the role of the SAT in shaping his child’s future. Impressed by Dewey’s approach—focusing on thinking development and core competencies—he believes it provides a solid foundation for his child to confidently pursue studying in the United States and unlock greater opportunities ahead.

“When you dare to try, your chances are definitely greater than 0%. If you don’t, your chances will always remain a perfect zero.” That is the lesson Hà An (10Olinda) has drawn from her years of growth at Dewey. From a shy girl who once stayed within her comfort zone, over the course of five years, Hà An gradually transformed into a confident and resilient individual, ready to seize opportunities to develop herself.

Joining Dewey in Grade 6, Hà An showed strength in the Social Sciences but lacked the confidence to express herself. She often chose to observe rather than actively take opportunities. Fear of failure and self-doubt caused her to miss out on many chances to explore her potential.

ha-an-02

Her turning point came in Grade 7 when she decided to join the Drama Club. In an open and creative environment, Hà An discovered the joy of expressing her literary abilities. From there, she not only became more confident but also took on the role of club leader, directly developing ideas and producing creative projects. “I never expected that from what seemed like a bold decision, I could go this far,” she shared.

Continuing that journey, Hà An proactively explored new areas. In the We Are The World media project, she took on the role of MC for the English challenge series “W-Quiz”—a position requiring confidence, on-camera presence, and flexible language use. Real-world experiences in a media environment, along with opportunities to observe and learn from professionals, nurtured her curiosity and growth mindset, helping her become more proactive and open to new experiences.

ha-an-04

However, not every attempt brought the desired results. In Grade 9, Hà An chose Geography to prepare for entrance exams to a specialized school. After a period of intense study, she realized it was not the right fit, leaving her drained and unable to achieve her goals. Choosing to stop was not a failure but a necessary adjustment. “I don’t regret trying, because that experience helped me understand myself better and what truly suits me,” she reflected.

Each experience became a step in her growth into a stronger and more self-assured version of herself. She continues to embrace the spirit of trying, but now with deeper self-awareness. This was clearly shown in the final round of the Dewey Olympia Championship, where she confidently buzzed in during the obstacle round and chose to place her “Star of Hope” on a question outside her comfort zone. As a result, she achieved an impressive third place overall, leaving a mark with her confidence and decisiveness.

ha-an-01

Looking back, the most valuable thing for Hà An has been the courage to begin. Every experience at Dewey has been an opportunity to break through her limits. She has come to realize that only by daring to experience and reflect can every choice—right or wrong—contribute to becoming a better version of oneself.

—————–

We Are The World is a multimedia communication project founded and developed by Dewey students since 2023, aiming to connect and amplify student voices. Through training activities and hands-on experiences in media, broadcasting, and journalism, the program enables students to participate directly in content production, build skills, and develop as global citizens.

9 years ago, Ha Anh described herself as a shy girl with limited English skills and a fear of public speaking. However, after 7 years of secondary school at FV88 It Com, she earned a scholarship in Liberal Arts Education at Waseda University in Tokyo (ranked #8 in Japan). Looking back on her journey, now a second-year university student, she realizes that the real transformation came from an educational environment that encouraged her to try, fail, and discover herself.

ha-anh-01

Starting out as a student from a public school with very few opportunities to express herself, Ha Anh lacked the confidence and dynamism of her peers. Yet, the learning environment at Dewey gradually helped her overcome psychological barriers, opening up opportunities for her to reflect, change, and grow. Through hands-on classes, interdisciplinary projects, and diverse cultural experiences, she slowly overcame her fear of self-expression, building confidence and a proactive learning mindset. “For me, Dewey has always been an ideal environment for students to explore their strengths and expand their thinking.” This transformation became the inspiration for Ha Anh to pursue Liberal Arts Education, with the hope of creating similar learning experiences in the future—so that students who are shy and insecure, like she once was, can also shine.

The skills Ha Anh developed at Dewey have given her significant advantages in university. Early exposure to essay writing, poster design, and teamwork in completing and presenting projects has helped her quickly adapt to the interdisciplinary, research-based learning approach of Liberal Arts education. She has even taken on leadership roles in group projects at university. Beyond academics, her objective thinking, listening skills, and empathy have been maximized in a multicultural environment. “I’m truly grateful for my experiences with projects at Dewey, as they have helped me integrate easily into an international university environment,” Ha Anh shared.

What Ha Anh treasures most is that even after graduating and studying abroad in Japan, she still carries with her meaningful friendships and continues to receive support from the Dewey community. She expressed, “I am always grateful and proud that no matter how far I go, I began my journey as a TDSer.” Currently, Ha Anh is also participating in volunteer activities in Tokyo, continuing and preserving the positive values she gained during her time at Dewey.

As a Dewey alumna, Ha Anh believes that future generations will continue to shine on their own journeys of growth. She hopes that her story and experiences will inspire the Dewey student community to go further and achieve even greater milestones in the future.
