Recently, Khôi Nguyên (Class 11Denton) and Đức Cường (Class 10Victoria) achieved outstanding success by winning the Gold Medal at the International Intellectual Property, Invention, Innovation and Technology Exposition (IPITEx) 2026*, and were further honored with a Special Award presented by Euro Business (Poland) for their impressive project. Surpassing hundreds of competing teams from many countries, the students’ project affirmed the strong capability of Vietnamese students to apply artificial intelligence (AI) on the international stage, while powerfully conveying a message about the younger generation’s responsibility in addressing pressing societal challenges.

VINH-DANH-1

Originating from a deep concern for community health issues, the team researched and developed a technology-based healthcare support system. Khôi Nguyên shared, “This solution aims to assist users in daily activities, monitor health conditions, and help maintain both physical and mental functions. By applying modern technologies, the system serves as a supportive tool that enhances quality of life and alleviates the burden on both patients and caregivers.”

A key highlight of the project lies in its integration of multiple functions within a user-friendly, intuitive interface, while maintaining low operating costs through the use of open-source technologies such as Python, TensorFlow, Keras, and MediaPipe. The project’s creativity, scientific value, strong practical applicability, and community-oriented goals earned high praise from the IPITEx 2026 judging panel.

Competing in a large-scale international arena, Khôi Nguyên and Đức Cường demonstrated remarkable confidence in communication, presentation, and academic debate in specialized English with judges, experts, and international peers. Đức Cường noted that this confidence was cultivated through project-based learning, experiential activities, and the open academic environment at FV88 It Com. Before this, neither student had participated in an international invention competition. IPITEx 2026 thus became a valuable opportunity for them to learn, gain exposure, and engage with professional research and scientific publication processes.

The success of Dewey students at IPITEx 2026 reaffirms their strong international integration capabilities in the fields of Science and Technology. It also represents the “sweet fruit” of a journey of learning and experiential education at FV88 It Com, contributing to the cultivation of high-quality human resources for the future of the nation.

In a quiet corner of the library during lunch break, Nhã Uyên gently opens the English book she has been reading, jotting down a few notes on a passage that captures her interest. At another table, Lương Minh continues working on his math research project, making the most of a rare moment of complete focus. These scenes unfold every day at Dewey during Get Things Done (GTD) time — a dedicated space where students are empowered to take ownership of their learning and assume responsibility for their academic journey.

Giờ-Get-thing-done-7

Many parents believe self-study simply means that a child voluntarily sits down each evening to complete homework. At Dewey, however, self-directed learning begins at a deeper level: when curiosity is nurtured long enough for the joy of discovery to replace the feeling of obligation. Learning then ceases to be a task — it becomes a conscious choice. GTD is intentionally embedded into the rhythm of school life, giving students the time and space to pause, reflect on what they want to learn, identify what they need to learn, and determine the most effective way to approach it.

Giờ-Get-thing-done-02

During GTD, each student follows a unique path. Some complete assignments; others delve deeper into reading materials; small groups exchange ideas for emerging projects. This diversity does not create distance — it reflects growing maturity in learning awareness, as each student gradually understands their own learning rhythm. Through small, consistent choices made each day, students develop the ability to manage their time, set priorities, and take responsibility for their decisions.

Giờ-Get-thing-done-3

To ensure self-directed learning goes beyond fleeting inspiration, Dewey actively supports students in building effective learning strategies. They are guided in approaching knowledge in ways that align with specific subjects and goals — from analyzing scientific problems and engaging deeply with literary texts to organizing information for projects. Over time, students not only learn how to study, but also learn how to design their own learning pathways.

Giờ-Get-thing-done-8

Through these experiences, self-study evolves from a skill into a way of life. It becomes the capacity to continually ask questions, update oneself, and remain willing to relearn in a changing world. Once this mindset is formed, learning is no longer confined to schedules, subjects, or fixed career paths — it becomes a foundation for adapting to any circumstance.

Giờ-Get-thing-done-4

As GTD comes to a close, students return to their regular classes. Yet what they carry with them is more than a completed assignment or a few pages read; they carry a cultivated attitude toward learning — proactive, responsible, and forward-looking. From these small spaces that nurture enduring habits, Dewey accompanies students on a journey of self-education, empowering them to become lifelong learners ready to thrive in a dynamic and ever-evolving world.

At the age of 17, Ta Nguyen Duy Anh—an alumnus of FV88 It Com Hai Phong—released a debut album with over 14 songs on major platforms, showcasing his artistic creativity and a persistent journey of self-discovery. Behind this achievement lies a story of being heard, having differences respected, and step-by-step nurturing passion within the learning environment of FV88 It Com.

Cuoc-song-Dai-hoc-cua-Cuu-hoc-sinh_Ta-Nguyen-Duy-Anh_1

Without a professional studio, the seeds of Duy Anh’s musical passion sprouted from the songs of Dan Truong and the lingering question: “How can I fully convey emotions through music?” Those seeds continued to be nurtured and flourished at FV88 It Com.

For Duy Anh, five years at Dewey were a meaningful journey: “I am who I am today because Dewey always listened and allowed me to be different. Dewey taught me so much about life and helped me refine my musical skills. I received formal training in rhythm and music theory… but more importantly, I learned how to live authentically and keep my word. I channel those values into my music. To this day, I always cherish the four core values at Dewey: Integrity, Passion, Generosity, and Lifelong Learning,” Duy Anh shared.

Cuoc-song-Dai-hoc-cua-Cuu-hoc-sinh_Ta-Nguyen-Duy-Anh_4

If music is a private space for Duy Anh’s internal dialogue, then D-Show 2025—the largest talent search at FV88 It Com—was the first time he brought that inner world to the stage. There, Duy Anh learned to harmonize his individual ego with collective goals, practicing empathy, listening to feedback, working with discipline, and standing firm under pressure.

These experiences provided him with lessons that go far beyond performance: responsibility for one’s words, honesty with emotions, fearlessness in the face of challenges, and a spirit of continuous learning.

Cuoc-song-Dai-hoc-cua-Cuu-hoc-sinh_Ta-Nguyen-Duy-Anh_3

What is remarkable is that despite his serious commitment to music, Duy Anh does not see art as his only path. He chose to attend Foreign Trade University, bringing with him a solid foundation of critical thinking, confidence, and self-mastery. Music is not separate from academics; instead, it becomes an inspirational flow that helps him stay balanced, creative, and resilient in a university environment.

Roles as an MC, interdisciplinary projects, and diverse experiential activities at Dewey helped Duy Anh hone his communication skills, critical thinking, and sense of responsibility—core competencies that allow him to adapt and thrive on any path he chooses.

Cuoc-song-Dai-hoc-cua-Cuu-hoc-sinh_Ta-Nguyen-Duy-Anh_2

At FV88 It Com, passion is not confined to a specific career. It is how the school nurtures a rich soul and a brave heart in students, enabling them to understand themselves, know what they want, and grow with the autonomy and courage to walk their own unique journeys.

Some journeys of growth do not begin with dazzling spotlights or instant glory, but with small, steady, and quietly proud steps. Even more meaningful is when those first steps begin at a school that also starts with the letter “D” – Dewey.

minh-thu-01

From a tentative beginning…

Before becoming a student at the University of Washington (UW)—ranked among the Top 8 universities globally – Minh Thư, in her early high school days, was an introverted and soft-spoken student. While many peers were drawn to media studies by the allure of stage lights and visible achievements, Minh Thư chose the field from a different perspective: one rooted in emotional depth and inner reflection. She was curious about why people connect, why certain messages resonate deeply, and why some stories need to be told with care and at the right moment.

minh-thu-02

To “D” journeys rich in experience

Three years at Dewey marked a period in which Minh Thư was constantly “going” (D) – in the broadest sense of the word. These included volunteer trips to mountainous regions, where she joined teachers and classmates to teach children literacy skills, organize activities, and learn how to listen, empathize, and share. They also included inward journeys through interdisciplinary projects in Humanities, Vietnamese Literature, History, and Geography—where learning went beyond memorization to role-playing, empathy, and understanding characters, authors, and historical contexts through lived perspectives.

minh-thu-04

Through these journeys, Minh Thư grew steadily, both academically and personally. Her distinctive perspective, strong academic profile, and diverse experiences enabled her to successfully gain admission to 12 major universities in the United States, all in her chosen field of Communications.

Creating a personal path: Every “D” becomes a road

Minh Thư shares, “The skills and habits cultivated at Dewey made my transition to university life significantly more manageable.” Classroom learning combined with Dewey’s career orientation activities helped her gain a structured and systematic understanding of the American university environment, from academic programs to teaching methodologies. Through her coursework, Minh Thư gradually developed public speaking skills, learning how to articulate ideas and viewpoints in a coherent, clear, and confident manner.

minh-thu-03

At UW, most courses require creative outputs—from presentations and quizzes to media projects. The design and content presentation skills Minh Thư accumulated through academic projects and extracurricular activities at Dewey became a major advantage. In particular, the habit of regular reading fostered through Social Sciences, Humanities, and Liberal Arts courses helped her adapt smoothly to the rigorous academic workload and high expectations for critical thinking in the U.S. university environment.

In her very first semester at UW, Minh Thư proactively applied for an internship at the Office of International Student Services under the university’s student association. She proudly embodies the values of intellectual curiosity, a passion for exploration, integrity, and a generous spirit in supporting the international student community.

A message to future Dewey students

To the next generations of Dewey students, Minh Thư shares a famous quote by Peter Drucker—the father of modern management and marketing: “The best way to predict the future is to create it.”Her journey of forging a deeply personal path stands as a vivid testament to the spirit of “Beyond the Blueprint”—going beyond predefined frameworks—which the Dewey system consistently strives to cultivate.

The 10th-Grade Version (2022): DSC Vice President – A Memorable Beginning

Kim Minseo stood there—steady, optimistic, and composed—before teachers and nearly 50 student representatives to run for the Dewey Student Council (DSC). Instead of opening with lofty promises or lengthy plans, she chose to share an iconic photograph: a pack of wolves crossing a snow-covered plain, captured by photographer Chadden Hunter and featured in BBC’s Frozen Planet. “Wolves are strong not because of each individual, but because of the discipline and unity that bind them together.”

That spirit became the foundation of Minseo’s approach to the DSC in her very first year at Dewey: leading through discipline by example, fostering unity, and collaborating to achieve shared goals. Her year as DSC Vice President might have been quiet, but its impact was firm and unmistakably hers. She infused DSC activities with a multicultural spirit—creating a space where Korean and Vietnamese students learned to connect, harmonize, respect, and understand one another.

The 11th–12th Grade Version (2023–2024): President of Tapestry Journal Club – Holder of Five 5-Star Credentials

Minseo joined the TDS community with the thoughtfulness, optimism, and disciplined demeanor characteristic of Korean students. But what truly set her apart at Dewey was her academic excellence paired with genuine humility. She learned, lived, and matured among her Vietnamese teachers and friends with sincerity, simplicity, and warmth.

From a quiet 10th grader, Minseo began pushing her own boundaries: founding the Dewey Tapestry Journal Club; taking on five challenging AP courses and earning perfect scores in all; achieving an SAT score of 1540; and continuously honing essential soft skills—including learning Vietnamese and cooking Vietnamese dishes.

In every activity, Minseo became a subtle yet powerful bridge between two cultures—a role she carried with rare humility and heart for someone her age.

A Journey of Growth Inspired by the Spirit of “Daring to Experience”

Minseo once admitted she used to fear failure. Yet at Dewey, she learned that “growing up means daring to step out of your comfort zone.” Embracing challenges helped her courageously establish the Dewey Tapestry Journal Club, run for DSC elections, and sign up for five demanding AP subjects. These experiences strengthened her discipline, independence, leadership, communication, time management, and empathy. Through running a club and collaborating with passionate peers, she discovered what truly excites her—and learned how to pursue goals while working effectively with others.

Additionally, Dewey’s university counseling program provided ongoing guidance, helping her explore global institutions and learn from the application journeys of alumni.

During her time at Dewey, Minseo gained a vital life skill: the courage to challenge herself. That mindset helped her achieve the first major milestone of her life—admission to her dream university. Whenever she faces difficulties or worries about the future, she reminds herself that failure is acceptable. Each challenge, regardless of outcome, contributes to personal growth and fuels her determination to move forward.

The 2025–2026 Version: Full Speed Ahead to Korea University

When Minseo received her acceptance letter to the Business Administration program at Korea University—one of South Korea’s oldest and most prestigious universities—the entire TDS faculty shared the pride and joy with her family. They understood that this achievement was not only a testament to her academic strength, but also a milestone marking a beautiful, meaningful journey of growth.

From Korea, Minseo shared that she still thinks of Dewey every day and looks forward to officially beginning her first semester in March 2026. Her “luggage” is far more than impressive scores—it includes the discipline of Korean culture, the warm heart she nurtured in Vietnam, and the confidence of a global citizen. Her teachers at TDS continue to follow her journey with pride.

OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS

  • SAT: 1540
  • AP: Perfect scores (5) in all five subjects
Calculus BC, AB Subscore, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Psychology
  • Leadership: Vice President, Dewey Student Council (DSC)
  • Academics & Communications: President, Dewey Tapestry Journal Club

The remarkable AP and SAT results serve as a “passport” enabling Dewey students to gain admission to top global universities. On that proud journey, Kim Minseo stands as a beautiful connection between Korea and Vietnam—bridging the chapters she has completed and the many new ones awaiting her ahead.

During his years at FV88 It Com, the stage lights became a familiar companion for Quang Minh (Grade 12 – Detroit). Each performance experience served as a solid stepping stone, strengthening his resolve to pursue his passion for the “seventh art.” Today, this aspiring filmmaker is taking the next step toward his dream as he officially enrolls in the Film Making program at Trinity University (U.S.).

anh-quang-minh-01

Born into a family with no artistic background, Minh’s special love for cinema emerged as early as Grade 7. At Dewey, that passion was nurtured and cultivated through numerous artistic projects. Ms. Diệu Anh—a drama teacher—still vividly recalls their first meeting: a student with striking eyes, long hair, and distinctive yellow pants. “I saw in those eyes a deep love for the arts and a special fascination with Bruce Lee. That’s why I cast Minh as the lead in our musical at the D-Show 2023 finals. When our team raised the championship trophy, I knew I had made the right decision,” Ms. Diệu Anh shared.

anh-quang-minh-02

After his success at D-Show 2023, Minh continued to challenge himself with various school projects such as Hồi báo đời, the English Historical Play Đinh Bộ Lĩnh, and the Dewey Film Festival. From his acting experiences, Minh began to dream of becoming a filmmaker. He taught himself video editing on YouTube, creating his first short films on a simple mobile phone with friends from his apartment complex as actors.

anh-quang-minh-03

Mr. Nguyễn Chiến Thắng—Career and College Guidance Counselor—was impressed by the 10th grader’s clarity of vision and determination to pursue directing. Initially, Minh’s family was hesitant because no one in the family had an artistic career, but his effort and commitment eventually convinced his parents. With the support of Dewey’s Career and College Counseling team, Minh gradually perfected his application portfolio and impressed admissions committees at over 10 U.S. universities with his story of chasing his dream. Notably, his prestigious piano awards at major competitions became a highlight of his profile. Minh shared that playing piano has helped him develop a keen sense of rhythm, tempo, and emotion—essential elements in cinema that allow filmmakers to bring audiences into deeper emotional layers.

anh-quang-minh-04

Minh is especially passionate about psychological, action, and martial arts films. He admires director Charlie Nguyễn’s filmmaking style and hopes that action films will gain more prominence in Vietnamese cinema. Choosing the U.S. — the cradle of Hollywood — Minh aims to spend the next four years at Trinity University gaining experience and honing his filmmaking techniques. We wish him an inspiring new journey filled with passion and unforgettable cinematic achievements.

As most 12th graders were busy preparing yearbooks and farewell notes at the end of the school year, Châu Anh (12Detroit) was quietly staying up late, folding colorful paper and writing over 40 heartfelt letters of gratitude. These weren’t just for her teachers—but also for janitors, security guards, bus drivers, and other staff members at school. Remarkably, many of the recipients had only briefly taught her, hadn’t directly worked with her, or were people whose names she hadn’t even had the chance to learn. Yet to this humble student, each one of them had played a part in shaping the person she is today.

chau-anh-01

To many at Dewey, Châu Anh is known as the gentle, friendly girl with a warm smile—always polite, always bowing respectfully to teachers and staff. Few would guess that just three years ago, she was a shy, withdrawn girl struggling to adapt to a new environment. She confided that it was the genuine kindness and care of those at Dewey that helped her overcome that difficult period. “No matter where I came from or how different I was, my friends, teachers, and the staff always treated me with respect and understanding. Thanks to that, I felt safe to be myself and confident to grow,” she shared.

chau-anh-02

Inspired by the kindness she received, Châu Anh gradually learned to open her heart and spread positivity to those around her. She holds a special appreciation for the school’s operational staff—the janitor who always greeted her with a bright smile, the security guard who waved and said, “Hello, Châu Anh!” every morning, the bus driver who always saved her a seat for her oversized school projects. “I don’t write these thank-you letters expecting a response,” she explained. “I just hope they feel the gratitude—not just from me, but from many other students too.”

chau-anh-03

Her homeroom teacher, Ms. Bùi Thị Nga, proudly described her as a quiet student with rare inner strength and determination. “Châu Anh is multitalented—she’s gifted in art, passionate about the arts, and especially strong in English. She’s the only student in her cohort to score an 8.5 on the IELTS exam, yet she remains humble and always strives to do better.” Châu Anh often jokingly calls the library her “refuge” during lunch breaks. There, she nurtures her love for books, patiently gathering knowledge day by day. When asked what she’s most proud of, instead of citing achievements, she simply says she’s someone who always tries her best, and always seeks to listen and understand others.

chau-anh-04

Just like her nickname “Sâu” (meaning “Caterpillar”), given to her by family and friends, Châu Anh’s journey at Dewey mirrors the story of a small but resilient creature—quietly and bravely breaking free from the cocoon of self-doubt to become the most radiant version of herself.

To us, the greatest pride in our students’ growth doesn’t lie in grades or accomplishments, but in their ability to bow their heads to say thank you or sorry, and to appreciate what they have. Gratitude is the first moral foundation Dewey instills in every student—because a grateful child will always stay humble in success and resilient in failure. Alongside academic knowledge, we believe gratitude is a guiding light that will lead our students to live kindly, love deeply, and cherish even the smallest things in life.

“The world is the true classroom.” That belief has guided Vương Thị Ngọc Linh (Grade 12 – Austin) to successfully earn offers from 12 universities in the United States. Her learning journey has never been confined to the four walls of a classroom—it has been continuously expanded through real-world experiences. Her fearless spirit, constant curiosity, and willingness to learn have shaped a distinctive Linh: a young woman who applies scientific thinking to boldly enter the creative world of Marketing.

Chan-dung-Vuong-Ngoc-Linh-01

From a young age, Linh was passionate about pharmaceuticals and once dreamed of becoming a pharmacist. During her middle school years at FV88 It Com, she was inspired by her Career Guidance Advisor, Mr. Trọng Tùng, to step out of her comfort zone and explore new fields—ranging from national business competitions, international robotics tournaments, and artistic pursuits to community service initiatives. These seemingly unrelated experiences ultimately helped her discover a true passion for Marketing—a field that demands logical thinking, creativity, sensitivity to trends, and a deep understanding of human behavior and society.

Chan-dung-Vuong-Ngoc-Linh-02

Few would expect a student passionate about Marketing to excel in the natural sciences, but Linh stands out precisely because of that combination. She developed a strong interest in AP Biology, particularly in human anatomy and genetics, and has achieved impressive accomplishments: Top 5 at the district level and Top 10 at the city level in the Biology Olympiad, along with a Gold Medal in the 2021 ASMO Science Olympiad. The academic environment at Dewey nurtured her love for science through various projects and scholarly events. Linh constantly sought interdisciplinary perspectives, bridging science and society through initiatives like the Dewey Model United Nations (DMUN). As the organizer of the World Health Organization (WHO) session within the DMUN project, she gained valuable insights into the interplay between healthcare, public policy, and global challenges.

What truly sets Ngọc Linh apart is her ability to merge scientific reasoning with creativity—two seemingly opposite qualities that give her a distinct edge in the modern marketing landscape. With her foundation in natural sciences, Linh has honed analytical thinking, data interpretation, and information processing skills. She believes that effective communication strategies must be grounded in solid data and real-world insights, especially in today’s digital era.

During her transition year in Grade 12 at Mount Vernon Schools (USA), Linh proactively enrolled in a Marketing class and actively participated in organizing school music events to broaden her practical experience. These steps became a strong launchpad for her to confidently pursue Marketing at Drexel University—renowned for its experiential learning approach. With a passion for exploration and a love of learning, Dewey believes that Linh will continue to thrive in the next four years at Drexel, continuing her mission to bridge science, creativity, and humanity in ways that create lasting value for society.

Every journey starts from zero, and at times, obstacles arise that make us want to give up. However, such challenges have never been a reason for the Dewey Tay Ho Tay football team to lose heart on the field. On the contrary, our young players always bring an unwavering fighting spirit, playing their hearts out for their teammates.

The 2023-2024 season marks a memorable milestone – the first year of the team’s establishment. Stepping onto the field for the first time in Dewey’s colors, our players carried excitement and determination, but that alone was not enough. Crushing defeats, matches forfeited due to a lack of players, and moments of wavering morale tested the team’s resilience.

Yet, with each tournament, embracing the spirit of “Victory without arrogance, defeat without discouragement,” the Dewey football team has created remarkable achievements. Facing formidable opponents, in October 2024, the U15 team proudly secured the Bronze Medal at the Hanoi Youth Premier League – an unexpected triumph against a team that had been the previous season’s champion. But the journey did not stop there. In the 2024 SSA (Sport Skill Academy) Cup, the Elementary School team delivered an outstanding performance, claiming victory to become the tournament champions. This historic win brought home the first-ever Gold Medal for the Dewey football team.

Having accompanied his child through numerous tournaments, Mr. Tuan Anh, a Dewey parent, shared his thoughts: “Beyond skill, which is essential on the field, I believe that spirit and responsibility are equally important in every match. I have witnessed significant improvements in technical quality, team cohesion, and the players’ willingness to take on strong opponents without fear of failure. This is exactly what I had hoped for when my child joined Dewey’s sports teams.”

Quang Anh (12Detroit), captain of the U18 football team, also reflected on the team’s progress: “I have seen the dedication and effort of every team member. Some players have shown remarkable improvement over the past three months of training together. Minh Duc and Thanh An, for example, were once reserve players who trained tirelessly and have now earned spots in the starting lineup. The team is not only stronger in terms of technical skills but has also grown in discipline, unity, and belief in one another. This collective spirit has transformed us into a completely different team.”

Under the guidance of their coaches, the young players not only develop tactical thinking but also learn to play as a team. When one player falls, the entire team rises together. When a match ends—win or lose—they reflect, learn from their experiences, and move forward as one.

Mr. Duy Anh, head coach of the Middle & High School football team, shared an inspiring message with his players: “If your jersey is still clean, it means you haven’t played hard enough! Whether in football or in life, the most important thing is to never give up and to learn from every challenge. You have all done an incredible job, and regardless of the results, always take pride in what you have given to the game. Keep your passion and determination alive, because football is not just about winning – it’s about growth, resilience, and surpassing your own limits.”
