Many teachers at FV88 It Com Hải Phòng still remember the sixth grader from Montreal class years ago — the boy with the surname Wu who impressed everyone with his confident English presentations and a series of scholarships awarded by the school.

Six years later, that student — Wu Tuấn Đạt from class 12 Washington DC — has successfully gained admission to the University of Sydney, a university ranked among the top 1% in the world. In addition, Đạt received scholarships totaling more than VND 2.5 billion from several prestigious universities such as the University of California, Davis; the University of Ottawa; and British University Vietnam.

Behind this achievement are many years of accumulated experiences and personal milestones. In his application profile, Tuấn Đạt stands out as an active student with rich experiences, a thoughtful inner world, and a broad understanding of the world around him. Beyond academic accomplishments, he also served as Secretary-General of Dewey MUN (Model United Nations), Vice President of the Student Council, and is the author of the book collection Winter Echoes. These roles helped him develop critical thinking, leadership, and teamwork skills — key qualities that make an application stand out among thousands of candidates.

Wu-Tuan-Dat-02

Throughout this journey, Đạt also received dedicated support from the school’s Career Counseling Department. From selecting suitable universities and preparing application materials to navigating the admission process, teachers were always by his side. “The school introduced, connected, and guided me carefully so that I could prepare my applications and apply to universities that matched me well. The University of Sydney was one of the universities suggested by the Career Counseling team.”

Looking back on his journey, Tuấn Đạt believes that the learning environment at Dewey helped him build a strong foundation to step into the doors of international universities. The bilingual program, U.S.-transferred courses, and Dewey’s experiential education philosophy not only strengthened his language abilities but also developed essential skills such as independent learning, research, teamwork, and leadership.

Wu-Tuan-Dat-03

One of the experiences Đạt remembers most is the theatrical projects based on literary works — an activity that has become a tradition among Dewey students. “Designing costumes, developing characters, organizing knowledge, and transforming it into vivid performances was a very meaningful experience. Sometimes the projects lasted several weeks or even a month, but creating a polished final product made all the effort worthwhile,” Đạt shared.

Although he has achieved remarkable success, Tuấn Đạt believes that “the University of Sydney is not my limit.” It is simply one of many doors waiting for him to choose and continue forward on a journey of “going beyond the mold.” At Dewey Hải Phòng, students are not confined to a single path. They are given opportunities to try, to make mistakes, to explore, and to grow through truly meaningful learning experiences. Beyond the acceptance letters from prestigious universities, what Dewey ultimately aims for is a generation of young people with independent thinking, strong self-learning abilities, the courage to shape their own paths, and the confidence to pursue their own choices.

There was once a girl who was introverted and insecure about her English. A girl who had never participated in any extracurricular activities throughout nine years of schooling. A girl who often wondered, unsure of what path truly suited her.

Three years later, that girl had become someone entirely different: bold enough to organize the first bilingual Startup Business Competition at Dewey, eager to challenge herself in extracurricular clubs, and ready to take on leadership roles while inspiring a spirit of entrepreneurship among peers who shared the same passion.
For Nhật Anh, a graduate of Class 12 Denver, her journey of growth is not measured by major titles or accolades, but by a series of meaningful experiences. Each attempt became an opportunity to reflect on herself and better understand the path she wanted to pursue.

chan-dung-Nhat-Anh-1

Previously, Nhật Anh’s English learning at her former school revolved mainly around grammar and tests. In her first year at Dewey, she initially felt overwhelmed when most subjects were taught in English, alongside the demanding pace of project-based learning and teamwork. Alongside the national curriculum from the Ministry of Education and Training, Nhật Anh also encountered entirely new subjects such as Invention and Performing Arts.

It was in the Humanities course, however—through lessons on economics, from markets and supply–demand to financial management—that she began to realize something important: learning becomes far more meaningful when knowledge connects with real-world challenges.

chan-dung-Nhat-Anh-2

From that initial spark of curiosity, Nhật Anh started seeking new experiences. Recognizing her potential, Mr. Tùng, Dewey’s University and Career Counseling Specialist, encouraged her to participate in small-scale business competitions. Each competition became a chance to learn how to prepare, articulate, and present her ideas. After every experience, she would reflect: what she had done well, what could be improved, and whether this was truly the path she wanted to pursue in the long term.

It was this cycle of trial, reflection, and growth that gradually helped Nhật Anh step out of her shell of self-doubt. As co-founder of the Dewey Business Ventures competition, she patiently reviewed dozens of lengthy business plans written entirely in English, filled with complex professional terminology. Through that process, she gradually developed a strong capacity for self-directed learning—the ability to independently explore, organize knowledge, and transform unfamiliar concepts into her own understanding.

It was also the first time the once-introverted girl approached sponsors, and the first time she stood confidently before a crowd in the role of a leader. Not every moment was easy, but each experience helped her better understand both her strengths and her limits.

chan-dung-Nhat-Anh-3

At the same time, Nhật Anh continued expanding her “experiential cycle” through Dewey’s career exploration activities—from university major demo classes and summer internships to field trips to universities and businesses. Each activity not only broadened her understanding of the professional world, but also encouraged her to keep asking herself an important question: What truly excites me, and who do I want to become in the future?

With the guidance of Dewey’s Career Counseling team in building her portfolio, writing application essays, and preparing for interviews, Nhật Anh successfully earned a 50% scholarship in Finance and Economics at the British University Vietnam, the very field she had chosen to pursue.

chan-dung-Nhat-Anh-4

Entering her first year of university, she quickly adapted to an entirely English-speaking academic environment. Presentations and group projects no longer felt intimidating, as she had already developed the habits of proactive research, independent learning, and collaboration during her years at Dewey.

Three years ago, Nhật Anh was searching for the answer to a simple question: “What am I truly suited for?” Three years later, she not only discovered her passion for finance and economics, but also gained the confidence to pursue the path she had chosen. At Dewey, such journeys of growth do not happen in a single breakthrough moment. Instead, they are shaped through multiple circles of experience—where students are encouraged to try, reflect, and gradually discover their own identity. Because sometimes, the most valuable thing education can offer is not a predetermined destination, but the ability to understand oneself and bravely move forward on the path one chooses.

—————–

The “EXPERIENTIAL CYCLE” campaign by FV88 It Com affirms an educational approach where experience is not simply a method, but the very core of learning. Each student is placed at the center of their developmental journey, guided to build self-learning capacity, independent thinking, and the confidence to shape their own future.

As most 12th graders were busy preparing yearbooks and farewell notes at the end of the school year, Châu Anh (12Detroit) was quietly staying up late, folding colorful paper and writing over 40 heartfelt letters of gratitude. These weren’t just for her teachers—but also for janitors, security guards, bus drivers, and other staff members at school. Remarkably, many of the recipients had only briefly taught her, hadn’t directly worked with her, or were people whose names she hadn’t even had the chance to learn. Yet to this humble student, each one of them had played a part in shaping the person she is today.

chau-anh-01

To many at Dewey, Châu Anh is known as the gentle, friendly girl with a warm smile—always polite, always bowing respectfully to teachers and staff. Few would guess that just three years ago, she was a shy, withdrawn girl struggling to adapt to a new environment. She confided that it was the genuine kindness and care of those at Dewey that helped her overcome that difficult period. “No matter where I came from or how different I was, my friends, teachers, and the staff always treated me with respect and understanding. Thanks to that, I felt safe to be myself and confident to grow,” she shared.

chau-anh-02

Inspired by the kindness she received, Châu Anh gradually learned to open her heart and spread positivity to those around her. She holds a special appreciation for the school’s operational staff—the janitor who always greeted her with a bright smile, the security guard who waved and said, “Hello, Châu Anh!” every morning, the bus driver who always saved her a seat for her oversized school projects. “I don’t write these thank-you letters expecting a response,” she explained. “I just hope they feel the gratitude—not just from me, but from many other students too.”

chau-anh-03

Her homeroom teacher, Ms. Bùi Thị Nga, proudly described her as a quiet student with rare inner strength and determination. “Châu Anh is multitalented—she’s gifted in art, passionate about the arts, and especially strong in English. She’s the only student in her cohort to score an 8.5 on the IELTS exam, yet she remains humble and always strives to do better.” Châu Anh often jokingly calls the library her “refuge” during lunch breaks. There, she nurtures her love for books, patiently gathering knowledge day by day. When asked what she’s most proud of, instead of citing achievements, she simply says she’s someone who always tries her best, and always seeks to listen and understand others.

chau-anh-04

Just like her nickname “Sâu” (meaning “Caterpillar”), given to her by family and friends, Châu Anh’s journey at Dewey mirrors the story of a small but resilient creature—quietly and bravely breaking free from the cocoon of self-doubt to become the most radiant version of herself.

To us, the greatest pride in our students’ growth doesn’t lie in grades or accomplishments, but in their ability to bow their heads to say thank you or sorry, and to appreciate what they have. Gratitude is the first moral foundation Dewey instills in every student—because a grateful child will always stay humble in success and resilient in failure. Alongside academic knowledge, we believe gratitude is a guiding light that will lead our students to live kindly, love deeply, and cherish even the smallest things in life.

“The world is the true classroom.” That belief has guided Vương Thị Ngọc Linh (Grade 12 – Austin) to successfully earn offers from 12 universities in the United States. Her learning journey has never been confined to the four walls of a classroom—it has been continuously expanded through real-world experiences. Her fearless spirit, constant curiosity, and willingness to learn have shaped a distinctive Linh: a young woman who applies scientific thinking to boldly enter the creative world of Marketing.

Chan-dung-Vuong-Ngoc-Linh-01

From a young age, Linh was passionate about pharmaceuticals and once dreamed of becoming a pharmacist. During her middle school years at FV88 It Com, she was inspired by her Career Guidance Advisor, Mr. Trọng Tùng, to step out of her comfort zone and explore new fields—ranging from national business competitions, international robotics tournaments, and artistic pursuits to community service initiatives. These seemingly unrelated experiences ultimately helped her discover a true passion for Marketing—a field that demands logical thinking, creativity, sensitivity to trends, and a deep understanding of human behavior and society.

Chan-dung-Vuong-Ngoc-Linh-02

Few would expect a student passionate about Marketing to excel in the natural sciences, but Linh stands out precisely because of that combination. She developed a strong interest in AP Biology, particularly in human anatomy and genetics, and has achieved impressive accomplishments: Top 5 at the district level and Top 10 at the city level in the Biology Olympiad, along with a Gold Medal in the 2021 ASMO Science Olympiad. The academic environment at Dewey nurtured her love for science through various projects and scholarly events. Linh constantly sought interdisciplinary perspectives, bridging science and society through initiatives like the Dewey Model United Nations (DMUN). As the organizer of the World Health Organization (WHO) session within the DMUN project, she gained valuable insights into the interplay between healthcare, public policy, and global challenges.

Chan-dung-Vuong-Ngoc-Linh-03

What truly sets Ngọc Linh apart is her ability to merge scientific reasoning with creativity—two seemingly opposite qualities that give her a distinct edge in the modern marketing landscape. With her foundation in natural sciences, Linh has honed analytical thinking, data interpretation, and information processing skills. She believes that effective communication strategies must be grounded in solid data and real-world insights, especially in today’s digital era.

Chan-dung-Vuong-Ngoc-Linh-04

During her transition year in Grade 12 at Mount Vernon Schools (USA), Linh proactively enrolled in a Marketing class and actively participated in organizing school music events to broaden her practical experience. These steps became a strong launchpad for her to confidently pursue Marketing at Drexel University—renowned for its experiential learning approach. With a passion for exploration and a love of learning, Dewey believes that Linh will continue to thrive in the next four years at Drexel, continuing her mission to bridge science, creativity, and humanity in ways that create lasting value for society.

Few would expect that the girl often seen in a simple school uniform, with calm eyes and a modest smile, carries within her a richly colorful inner world of knowledge, art, and a deep humanistic ambition.

From a young preschooler at Sakura Montessori to an outstanding student in the American Integrated Program at FV88 It Com, Nguyet Anh represents the quintessential student whose 12-year educational journey has flourished under the Edufit system. She is also the only student in the Adventure program to receive a full scholarship for four years, from grades 9 through 12. Currently, Nguyet Anh is transferring to grade 12 at Mount Vernon School (USA) following the dual Vietnamese – American high school diploma program.

Chân-dung-nguyệt-ánh-03

But what makes Nguyet Anh truly remarkable has never been just about grades. It is her rare intellectual curiosity and her ability to connect seemingly unrelated streams of knowledge, from human rights philosophy, Russian literature, and contemporary art to mechanical engineering, urban design, and rock music. She does not learn merely to know, but to understand, and with the hope of changing the world in her own way.

Chân-dung-nguyệt-ánh-04

Nguyet Anh applied to three seemingly unrelated majors at once: Politics, Design, and Mechanical Engineering. But to her, they all lead to a common ideal: to create equitable and sustainable value for society through different lenses. In a mock interview, when asked what she would choose to study if not those three fields, she answered, “Maybe I would want to be a doctor, because I want to help people.” A simple answer, yet it fully reflects the humanistic spirit that has always been at the heart of her choices.

Chân-dung-nguyệt-ánh-01

Allow us to share an excerpt from Nguyet Anh’s college essay, which offers a glimpse into the inspiring and deeply humanistic journey of a student who refuses to be boxed in by disciplines or confined to well-worn paths. Instead, she ventures into seemingly distant fields in search of the intersection between creativity, compassion, and sustainable development.

“Mechanical Engineering will be the first stepping stone in that long journey. My grandfather, who once dreamed of becoming an architect, left school to repair roads and bridges, critical infrastructures in the fight for independence amid the rain of bombs and bullets. His resilience helped secure for my generation the freedom to dream. Like him, I carry a deep sense of responsibility toward my nation. History has never been fair, and now, no one should be left behind.

Chân-dung-nguyệt-ánh-05

I aspire to design timeless, sustainable infrastructure, build affordable housing for those in need of shelter, and tackle urban planning challenges to ease traffic congestion. With each project, I hope to honor the efforts of past generations and help create better living conditions for those to come. This is my lifelong commitment: to use my abilities and dedication to drive sustainable change that benefits all of society, one blueprint at a time.”

Chân-dung-nguyệt-ánh-02

Congratulations to Nguyet Anh – a young girl of intellect, emotion, and noble ideals. You are the embodiment of the Dewey spirit – a student who is free in thought, profound in action, and deeply humanistic in every aspiration.

For every young person, defining a future destination is never an overnight decision—it is a journey that requires timely exploration and the right guidance. Recently, students from classes 9Zurich and 10Edmonton had a valuable opportunity to begin that journey through a career orientation session with Mr. Nguyễn Văn Tuyên – Senior Advisor of Edufit Education Group.

định-hướng-IB-01

Far from dry theories, Mr. Tuyên’s session began with a heartfelt question: “What do you truly want in life?” From that question, he guided students to approach essential and foundational concepts in career orientation: understanding oneself, setting clear goals, and most importantly, locking in those goals through consistent daily action.

Mr. Tuyên shared, “The most important part of career orientation is setting goals early in order to establish a clear roadmap. I believe that each of us has a hidden purpose that shapes our lives. When you have goals and understand what you want, you’ll feel excited about your work—and do it joyfully.”

định-hướng-IB-02

định-hướng-IB-03

định-hướng-IB-04

One of the most memorable moments of the session was when students were given 10 minutes to write down their personal goals and share them with the group. From simple academic objectives to big dreams, the students demonstrated admirable initiative and commitment to their own journeys.

định-hướng-IB-06

Beyond goal setting, Mr. Tuyên also inspired students to define their personal value system—consisting of their mission, vision, and core values—as a compass to make clearer and more determined decisions along their paths.

định-hướng-IB-05

The session may have ended, but the seeds of initiative, belief, and perseverance have been planted—ready to grow into a promising journey of self-discovery for every TDSer.

Excited, happy and grateful – that was the first feeling of Gia Bao, a 12th grader in Washington DC, when he learned that he had won a scholarship worth more than 2.4 billion VND from VinUniversity, majoring in Mechanical Engineering – one of the important goals he set for the 2024–2025 school year.

Unlike many people who think that success comes from luck, Gia Bao chose to proactively create opportunities for himself. From an early age, he clearly identified the field of study he was passionate about, and started planning to prepare his application: from CV, Portfolio, essay to interview practice. Each step was carefully carried out by the young man from FV88 It Com Hai Phong with a serious and proactive spirit.

It is not easy to find something “different” in an essay among hundreds of candidates, but Gia Bao clearly understands: the difference does not lie in the big things, but in the way you tell a real story, with depth, and show how much you understand yourself. Bao constantly searches for “real material” from life, from the experience of a leader in a fashion design – production – business project, to conversations with teachers to hone the way to express ideas.

“During my years at Dewey, I not only received dedicated support from teachers, staff and the Career and Study Abroad Advisory Board, but was also inspired to dream big and take action. This environment has given me confidence, critical thinking and a proactive spirit – factors that not only helped me achieve these great results but also shaped me to confidently embark on a new journey, ready to create positive impacts for the community.” – Gia Bao shared.

Gia Bao’s journey to conquer the scholarship did not start with absolute confidence, but with a troubling question: “What is special about me?”. However, it was his proactive spirit, positive attitude and perseverance in pursuing his goals that helped Gia Bao find the answer himself – and firmly put his name on the prestigious VinUniversity scholarship list.

“Stay positive and always be prepared, because success comes from creativity and initiative, not from luck.”
