INTERNATIONAL SUMMER CAMPS

To equip students with valuable experiences so that they are empowered to be more confident and mature and step out to the world, FV88 It Com in collaboration with Mount Vernon School organizes the Summer Camp “A Cultural Immersion Experience Summer Camp in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S”

This summer camp program is annually organized in July for G6-12 students. Thanks to the 2-week trip, students are allowed to discover and involve in academic and daily life amid U.S. native culture. This will be an excellent field trip to acquaint students with an international environment and lay the groundwork for future studying abroad opportunities.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

FV88 It Com has integrated the Life-skills & Extracurricular Education Program of Outward Bound Vietnam, bringing students a value-creating and interesting experience. Outward Bound Vietnam is a member of the Outward Bound network operating in 37 countries and serving more than 200,000 participants each year.

The challenges in Outward Bound programs are designed for a small group of 14 participants, promoting their teamwork and communication skills. At the same time, students have time to reflect on themselves to draw lessons, plan their future actions, and understand their strengths and weaknesses.

Students will be equipped with outdoor skills and understand the importance of environmental conservation through active engagement in the wilderness, hiking and setting up a shelter, etc. Besides, students are also introduced to “Leave No Trace” principles to minimize the impacts on wildlife during the experience.

COMMUNITY SERVICE ACTIVITIES

Community service activities are crucial in the education of FV88 It Com which always upholds the responsibility to the community and towards humanistic values in society.

Students are educated while their empathy, caring, and understanding of global and local issues are nurtured and developed. The school encourages students to research and brainstorm solutions to solve problems and create their own community projects and volunteer activities. Students have been empowered to experiment with ideas and act with their own solutions, thereby confidently bringing positive values to the surrounding community and together creating a better world starting now.

The charity trip in Quang Binh

Teachers, parents, and students contributed to the construction works at 2 disadvantaged schools at Quang Binh in terms of education and health: Bo Trach Ethnic Minority Boarding School & Con Roang Village Kindergarten.

18 representatives from Grades 7 to 10 together with school and parent representatives joined their hands in building charitable construction works at 2 schools: Bo Trach Boarding School & Con Roang Kindergarten. These 2 schools are close to the Vietnam-Laos border where 100% of the inhabitants are the people of Ma Coong, Chut, and Bru-Van Kieu ethnic minorities with disadvantages in education and health. Dewey students and the students there learned, studied, and experienced the same life as Bo Trach Boarding School students and proactively organized learning activities in “Learning by doing” lessons.

Charity fundraising for The Viet Nam Red Cross Society

Students carried out a campaign to raise public awareness as well as contribute to raising funds for organ donation of the Viet Nam Red Cross Society.

This was a project in Humanities where a group of students from 10Budapest launched a ‘campaign’ to raise awareness and funds for the activity of organ donation of Vietnam Red Cross Society. TDSers decided to sell their self-designed shirts to highlight the demand for organ donation in Vietnam, at the same time encouraging people to better protect their organs, then donated all the earned money to the charity fund of the National Coordination Centre for Human Organ Transplantation.

"Let's Save Our Sea" Project

Students implemented the community project “Let’s save our sea” with activities to research the current state of marine environmental pollution, learn about recycling classification and waste treatment and improve human responsibility to the marine environment.

8th graders at FV88 It Com Hai Phong researched the current state of marine environmental pollution, learned about recycling classification and waste treatment, and improved human responsibility to the marine environment.  The students also had a field trip at 295 Do Son Beach to join in cleaning the beach together. After using the gloves, the students gave them back to the environmental sanitation workers here as a way to share the hardships as well as to further raise the awareness of residents and visitors about ocean conservation. Using recycled waste, TDSers created posters that simulate marine habitats with the theme of preserving biodiversity and marine ecosystems and reducing ocean plastic waste. The project received a positive response from teachers and students of Van Son Primary School in signing the pledge to join hands to protect the natural marine environment. When coming back to TDS, the students encouraged their peers to bring personal cups and water bottles when buying drinks at G-coffee to say no to disposable plastic products and use environmentally-friendly products instead.

"The Power Of Dreams" Project

This was the project where students carried out various meaningful activities including volunteering activity at Hai Phong Deaf School and fundraised for charity.

This was a community project developed by middle and high school students from The Dewey School Hai Phòng with various meaningful activities including:

– Volunteering activity at Hai Phong Deaf School.

– Field trip in Visual Arts subject at Bat Trang Pottery Village to create Made-by-TDSer products.

– Summer Concert at Hai Phong Radio – Television Station where students choreographed and performed art performances, and organized an auction to raise funds for charity.

– BMI Science Workshop counseling on nutrition, educational psychology, and running charity fundraising booths.

CLUBS

Students are able to immerse themselves in countless experiences and confidently identify their strengths, interests and passions. Students have the opportunity to widen their knowledge in various life aspects and develop their 21st-century skills. The most fascinating part is interclub activities where students would not only work in separate clubs but also collaborate to learn and contribute to the community with positive values. For example, if a product is made by the Invention club, the Marketing – Communication & Journalism will report and develop an advertising strategy about that product, then the Visual Arts Club will design a poster for the product, and the Career – Start-up Club will sell the product to raise charity. Besides, students can participate in meaningful contests or initiatives such as: Donating books to build libraries, reading activities, performing plays for disadvantaged children, etc.

Academic clubs

Debate, Reading, Invention, Japanese, IELTS Speaking, Math Olympiad, etc.

2-50

Skills clubs

Marketing – Communication & Journalism, Career Orientation – Start-up, Coding, Multimedia, Gardening, etc.

3-50

Arts clubs

Modern Dance, Drama, Latin Dance, Piano, Vocal Music, Guitar, etc.

4-50

Sports clubs

Football, Basketball, Taekwondo, Badminton, Yoga, Chess, etc.
